I have had a hard time improving my Spanish (also known as Castellano or Castillian Spanish) here in Spain...I'm not quite where I need to, or want to, be. Classes at private language institutes have helped a little, but I'm now looking for a private tutor. Does anyone in the Eating Up España audience know one? Your silence is deafening, folks ;-)
In my time between taking group classes and finding a tutor, I've found the following great websites to practice Spanish on my own:

http://www.spanishdict.com/
http://www.learnspanish.com/
http://spanish.about.com/
http://www.ave.cervantes.es/ing.htm

I've also been supplementing my studies with some workbooks I've found at the Spanish Barnes & Noble Bookstore equivalent, La Casa Del Libro:
USO DE LA GRAMATICA ESPAÑOLA de CASTRO, FRANCISCA (elemental, intermedio, advanzado)
APRENDE GRAMATICA Y VOCABULARIO de CASTRO VIUDEZ, FRANCISCA y DIAZ BALLESTEROS, PILAR (this follows the European system of ELE nivels A1, A2, B1, B2, etc.)
Wish me luck!

Yeah yeah, good luck with the Spanish. I'm trying to come up with a clever name for my new Valentine's Day collection of brassieres. Where the hell are you when I need your wordsmithery?? C'mon Ms. Short and Sweet!!
