Now, I don't like still lifes. I typically fast forward through museum galleries that feature still life paintings. But I found this blog, State Of The Art : Contemporary Still Lifes from Jeff Hayes, where an aritist produced and featured a a still life he painted each day. I thought that he had a creative way to present and promote himself on the internet. The artist held a monthly drawing for newsletter subscribers recently for a miniature original painting, and that is how I won this:

I really enjoy Jeff's modern approach to still lifes that use food related items to showcase his technique. And we all know how much I love food-related items!
Jeff also has an online store which has works available for online purchase, a discussion blog about the painting process and a youtube.com channel with movies of him painting on his website.
